WHAT IS MIXED MARTIAL ARTS?

In Mixed Martial Arts, two opponents engage in both stand-up and ground based striking matches with the goal of sufficiently injuring, knocking out, or submitting their challenger.

MMA is a full-contact combat sport that spans across various disciplines of martial arts, including jiu jitsu, muay thai, boxing, wrestling, and more. The core components of MMA are:
Punching, kicking, knee strikes, and elbow strikes
Push, pull, and hold grappling techniques to manipulate and gain leverage
Takedowns from standing position
Submission by joint lock or choke
With some exceptions, attacks may be launched from either standing position or on the ground.
